Transplant Day, often called day zero…
Cells arrived at BWH from Germany around 9am this morning. The only info we have about the donor is it was from a 29 year old female. The cells were processed and delivered to Melissa’s room around 3:15pm. We had the hospital chaplain bless the cells and the new blood started flowing at 3:22pm. The process isn’t much different from a transfusion and will take 3-4 hours to finish.
Melissa is doing great!
